Medical mixing and reconstitution systems
Mixing and reconstitution systems are used in the medical field for safe and simple preparation and administration of lyophilized pharmaceuticals. Lyophilization is the process of freeze drying a substance for stabilization and storage. A lyophilized pharmaceutical must be reconstituted for administration, typically with water for injection (WFI). The mixing/reconstitution systems are developed to make the process safe and straight forward for both a trained healthcare profession or, for a patient in the home setting. Not only are lyophilized pharmaceuticals administered in this fashion but, these systems can be used to mix two liquids which when combined, activate one active substance before administration (example, fibrin tissue adhesives).
Customer requirements:
Customer requirements are varied when it comes to these devices. Safey, efficacy, optimal puncture forces, and minimal loss of active substance are all priorities. Special device solutions are also able to be incorporated such as integrated vial holders or activation mechanisms.
